Job Title: Community Outreach  and Program Facilitator

Position Supervisor: Youth and Family Program Manager

Position Status: Full-time (40hrs/week)

Pay Rate: $30-34/hour

Position Description: Community Outreach and Program Facilitator will be responsible for conducting outreach, organizing and facilitating all deliverables objectives throughout the program time.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Education, or related field (In-Progress towards attaining bachelor/Associate degree in these field or other fields are encouraged to apply)

  • ​​Must have a volunteer or work history background with in East Africa community

  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with attention to detail

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with participants,parents/guardians, and colleagues.

  • ​Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

  • ​Proficiency on basic computer skills (Microsoft, Good Drive, Excel...)

  • Bilingual, at least must speak and write one of the East African languages (Amharic,Afan Oromo,Somali and or Tigrigna). Tigrigna is a plus.​

Key Responsibilities:

Community Outreach and program facilitator duties are as follows:

  • Will be assigned for a daily task at any program activities as needed. For instance, conducting outreach for workshops, organizing and facilitating any training/workshops, or events.

  • Prepare training materials and provide training/workshops for community members (youths/parents). 

  • Should communicate frequently with the Program manager and Executive Director to ensure the program deliverables are conducted in a timely frame.

  • Should be responsible for meeting deadlines of all kinds of program activities which take place throughout the program time. 

  • Will closely work with the Program Manager and other assigned staff to arrange any appropriate training and orientations as needed.

  • Must attend and participate in all programs required training and meetings as needed.

  • Will report program activities weekly, biweekly and must perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.

  • Know to help clients and support their needs.

  • Track all attendees and keep data collecting during all activities.

  • Must have means of transportation

Job Title: Civic Class Instructor

Position Supervisor: Social Service Program Manager

Position Status:Part-time (4 hours/week)

Pay Rate: $28-30/hour

Position Description: The Civic Class Instructor will design and lead engaging weekly civic and citizenship classes for Horn of Africa Services; community members. Horn of Africa Services (HOAS) is a non-profit organization that was established to serve low-income immigrant, refugees’ families in Seattle, Washington, since 1992. HOAS has been committed to actively and dedicatedly serving the community. Through its operations over the years, the organization has touched countless lives, making a positive impact on them.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Work, or a related field.

  • Experience in teaching Citizenship classes to refugees and/or immigrants preferred.

  • Ability to speak, read, and write fluently in English and at least one of the East African languages (Amharic, Afan-Oromo, Somali and Tigrigna) preferred but not mandatory.

  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.

  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends.

  • Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop lesson plans for Citizenship classes that are suitable for East African clients.

  • Secure all the teaching materials required to teach the Citizenship​ class.

  • Recruit the targeted number of students for the class and, with the Program Manager, provide all case management services required to facilitate their participation.

  • Teach Citizenship classes and ensure that, at the end of each class session, the appropriate numbers of students are test-ready per the terms of the OA contract.

  • Assist students individually and in groups to complete and submit the N-400 application.

  • Coordinate with other agencies that provide Citizenship classes for refugees and/or immigrants.

  • Complete reports and maintain statistical information as required by the fiscal agent.

  •  More duties may add as needed.
